Put BookStack on India Hosts in 5 Minutes
Set it up on our host in India. Pick a plan, name it, and go live fast. You can start on a small plan and grow as your team does.
BookStack is an open-source wiki for teams. It is lighter than a full site. It uses books, chapters, and pages. Teams write docs in this shape.
Here is how to go from "we need a wiki" to a live wiki in India. It takes five minutes or less.
Before you start.
You need three things.
- Your own domain. Or use the free
*.webhost24.inURL we give you. - A plan that runs apps. The smallest Apps plan runs the wiki for a
small team. See live prices on
/pricing. - Free Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). We add it once your domain points to us.
Step 1 - Open the apps list.
Click Apps on our home page. Then pick the BookStack card. The set up screen opens.
Step 2 - Name your wiki.
Pick a slug. It goes in your URL: your-slug.webhost24.in. You can
use your own domain. Type it in the Custom domain field. We will
show you the domain name system (DNS) records. They go at the end.
Step 3 - Pick a plan.
We use your plan. Have you picked one? If not, the set up will pause. It will ask you. The smallest Apps plan fits a small team. It can take under 500 pages.
Step 4 - Wait for the deploy.
We set up a container. The wiki runs in it. We add a MySQL database. We add a file store. We switch on SSL. This takes three to five minutes. You can watch it live in your dashboard.
Step 5 - Log in to BookStack.
Once it turns Live, open the app URL. The first visitor makes the admin account. We send the login details on WhatsApp. Log in and change the password. Then make your first book.
What you get out of the box.
- Free Let's Encrypt SSL. We renew it for you.
- Daily MySQL and storage copies. We keep each one for 7 days.
- You can search all books and pages.
- Three roles: Reader, Editor, and Admin.
- Upload files and images with the built-in manager.
- Prices in rupees. You pay month to month.
What to do next.
- Make your first book. Give it a name. Add a short description.
- Add chapters in the book. Then add pages in each one.
- Set up roles. Pick who can write. Pick who can only read.
- Upload any docs you have. Use the page editor. It shows what you get.
- Set up email. Then it can send password resets. It can send shelf updates too.
When to upgrade.
The smallest Apps plan suits a small team. The next plan up doubles the space and memory (RAM). You get room for more books. You can upload larger files. You get a managed cache. You get a content delivery network (CDN).
That is all it takes. You go from sign up to a live team wiki. It is hosted in Gujarat. You get free SSL. You get daily backups. If you get stuck, message us on WhatsApp.
