WordPress is the most used content management system (CMS) in the world. About 43% of all sites use it. Here is how to go from "I want a blog" to a live blog of your own. It takes under five minutes on WebHost24.

Before you start.

You need three things.

  • A domain of your own. Or use the free *.webhost24.in URL we give you.
  • A plan that runs apps. The smallest Apps plan runs one WordPress site with ease. See live prices on /pricing.
  • Free Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). We add it once your domain points to us.

Step 1 - Open the apps catalog.

Click Apps on our home page. Then pick the WordPress card. The set up screen opens.

Step 2 - Name your site.

Pick a slug. It goes in your URL: your-slug.webhost24.in. You can use your own domain. Type it in the Custom domain field. We will show you the domain name system (DNS) records. They go at the end.

Step 3 - Pick a plan.

We use your hosting plan. Have you picked one? If not, the set up will pause and ask you. The smallest Apps plan is enough for a blog. It can take under 10,000 visitors a month.

Step 4 - Wait for the deploy.

We set up a container. We add a MySQL database. We turn on backups. We switch on SSL. This takes three to five minutes. You can watch it live in the dashboard.

Step 5 - Log in to WordPress.

Once it turns Live, click the URL. The first page shows the "Hello world" post. Click Log in in the bottom right. Use the admin password we send on WhatsApp. Change it when you first log in.

What you get out of the box.

  • Free Let's Encrypt SSL. We renew it for you.
  • Daily database backups. We keep each one for 7 days. See our data processing agreement (DPA) for the terms.
  • One-click staging. This comes soon.
  • Prices in rupees. You pay month to month.

What to do next.

  • Swap the theme.
  • Install the plugins you need. Jetpack, Yoast, and Contact Form 7 are the usual picks.
  • Point your own domain at the new app.
  • Set up your admin email. Then you get alerts for each comment.

When to upgrade.

The smallest Apps plan fits a blog of your own. It fits one small WordPress site too. The next plan up doubles the room and storage. It adds a cache. You get a free content delivery network (CDN).

That is all it takes. You go from sign up to a live WordPress site. It is hosted in India. You get free SSL and daily backups. If you get stuck, message us on WhatsApp.

Ask us on WhatsApp

Our team replies during Indian business hours. Ask us anything about hosting, and we will help. We are the people who run the servers, so we can answer the hard ones too.

That is the end of this post. If you want to keep reading, the posts below are the ones we share with it. We write every post ourselves, and each one stands on its own.

We write about hosting, servers, backups, and the day to day work of running a site for a customer. There is no sales pitch in a post, and every post is free to read.

We write them for the people who run a site from India, and we keep the words plain. We do not write for a prize, and we do not sell you anything here. Read the post, take what you need, and ignore the rest.
